Smoke Alarms

As a service to Trenton residents, the Trenton Fire Department can install smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors (and batteries) when requested by a resident. The TFD also provides information on maintaining these devices to help ensure that the citizens of Trenton are protected from the dangers of house fires.

Quite simply smoke alarms save lives. The risk of dying in a home fire is cut in half in homes when there are working smoke alarms in the home. About half of all house fires in occur in homes that do not have working smoke alarms.

Any resident within the City of Trenton who wishes to have their smoke alarm checked or installation done may call the fire department offices at 734-676-1314 between 8:00 AM -5:00 PM, Monday – Friday to schedule a representative to come to the residence to either inspect current detectors or install smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.

Upon inspection if your smoke alarm(s) are not working, we will replace the battery and if it still will not work, a new smoke alarm will be installed.
