Wellness Checks

The Trenton Police Department accepts requests from family or others to check on or make contact with a resident of the City of Trenton if they have been unable to reach them by telephone or other form of contact. TPD handles these requests for welfare checks in a manner that protects the privacy of the residents as well providing for their safety and well being. Welfare check requests can be made by calling TPD at 734-676-3737.

House Checks

How does the police house check process work?

The Trenton Police Department can provide house checks upon request. Upon receipt of the form below, completed in its entirety, TPD will conduct the check and document their findings. House/Business address numbers must be displayed and clearly visible at the location. Please note that packages delivered during requestor’s absence will not be handled or moved by the TPD. If the requestor returns to the residence before the return date listed on the form, the requestor is required to notify the the Police Department immediately so the checks can be stopped.

How frequently will the police check my house?

  • If you will be gone from one day up to four weeks, we will attempt to check your house 2-3 times per week if possible.
  • If you will be gone four weeks or longer, we will check your house one to two times per week as time allows.
